Abbey House

Housemaster - Michael McGinty

Michael McGinty joined Sherborne in 2007 as Head of Government and Politics and took over Abbey House in January 2011. He was the senior tutor in Abbeylands and is the master in charge of cycling. His first career was in the Royal Navy, as a submarine officer, and he served in the 1991 Gulf War. His interests include cycling, cooking, hillwalking and, of course, his family. He is married to Penny Graham, who is the bursar at Leweston School, and they have two sons at Sherborne Prep.

Abbey is the second oldest House and also the smallest. It is an intimate, comfortable place to live, with two common rooms, a library, two gardens and a spacious bargeyard. It is conveniently located close to central amenities such as the dining hall, music school and sports centre.
