The Digby

Housemaster - Martin Brooke

Martin became Housemaster of The Digby in 2006. He joined the school in 1988 and served as Head of Classics between 1990-2006. Prior to that, he held Lectureships at Oxford University, and he continues to write and publish as far as time allows. His non-academic interests include sport (particularly football) music, film and wine. His wife, Rachel is a journalist, and they have one son.

The Digby, once a four star hotel, is spacious and is set in beautiful gardens not far from the railway station. Mentioned by Thomas Hardy in The Woodlanders, it was converted for boarding use in the mid-1960's and has been regularly up-dated, so that its facilities are modern and comfortable.
