Library Activities

The Library Team supports and encourages reading activities:

  • The “Read On” Group gathers every fortnight to discuss the latest books the pupils have read and suggest more titles for the Library to purchase, or propose some literary events such as author visits. This is a lively group in which the participants can freely express their opinions. The boys are also involved in joint events with the neighbouring schools.
  • Displays are organised on the boards of the library and new themes are promoted regularly. These displays recommend titles on the various subjects, combined with some posters and articles to encourage further reading.
  • The Inter-house Literary Quiz takes place every year in September, and is a great occasion for the boys to test their knowledge of books against each other in a fun and competitive way.
  • A Book Fair is organised bi-annually by the Library and offers a wide selection of materials, ranging from modern fiction to reference books, audio books and study aids. This is a good opportunity for the pupils to browse new titles. The event is very popular with the students.
  • Authors and poets are invited to the Library to talk about the books they have written and share their experience with the students. The debates are animated and drive the pupils to start writing themselves and discover new authors or new perspectives. Authors who visited the school recently include Beverley Naidoo, Tim Bowler, and Bernard Cornwell.
