Government and Politics
Government & Politics at Sherborne is available at A-level. The subject is taught jointly with Sherborne Girls and has seen a doubling in numbers since it was first offered in September 2005.
At Sherborne we approach Government and Politics as a practical subject; anyone taking the subject is expected to take a full interest in current affairs and to use that interest to enhance and enliven their academic studies. The department runs a number of trips and in recent years has visited the UK Parliament, Washington DC, NATO and the European Parliament. We also hold occasional debates on political topics. A substantial proportion of pupils have undertaken work for MPs during their school holidays.
All A-level pupils study UK Government and Politics in the Lower Sixth, leading to two AS papers in the Trinity term. In the Upper Sixth, two choices are offered, US Government & Politics or International Relations.
