Learning a new language should be fun. In German we ensure it is. Lessons are lively, enjoyment is had by the teacher and the taught, progress is rapid and sure. Very few boys have any knowledge of German upon their arrival at Sherborne, so there’s a real feeling of discovering the language together. It doesn’t matter what sort of track record you have had in languages – we welcome all who wish to give German a go, and the percentage of those who continue is an impressive testimony to the sense of achievement engendered by the enthusiastic, inspiring teachers. There are plenty of opportunities for those who wish to put theory into practice by actually visiting Germany: trips are regularly organised to the Christmas markets of Cologne and to the beautiful sights of Berlin.
