Spanish

Spanish is a truly international language spoken as a first language by around 450 million people. We believe that it is a language which provides a gateway not only to opportunities for travel, business, diplomacy and friendships but also to a rich variety of cultures spanning continents and many centuries.

We will teach your son Spanish from scratch providing a solid grounding which will prepare him for both GCSE Spanish and for Spanish at A level and IB.  Click here for the IB Spanish page.

We see it very much as part of our mission to provide opportunities for your son to visit Spain and Spanish-speaking countries and to experience life within a Spanish family. We provide opportunities for this in both the Fifth Form and at the end of the Lower Sixth. Our students in the Sixth Form have weekly one-on-one conversation classes with our young native-speaking language assistants.

We are proud of the number of boys who have taken up the challenge of learning Spanish here. Many former students have gone on to travel in Spanish-speaking countries and to study Spanish at degree level with great success.
