Sherborne invites talented and enthusiastic boys to apply for one or more of the scholarships and other awards that are available. We offer a range of awards from academic and creative to musical and sporting. In return for scholarly commitment in their chosen discipline, award holders are rewarded with many opportunities to stretch themselves beyond the curriculum with additional tutoring, coaching, lectures, societies and social activities.
Scholarships are awarded at 13+ in the following areas
- Academic scholarship
- Art awards
- Drama awards
- Design and Technology awards
- Music scholarships
- Sport awards
- All-round awards (two selected out of Art, Drama, Design and Technology, Drama, Music and Sport)
All boys wishing to be considered for an award must complete a Scholarship application form, available on the website or through the Admissions Department. This form must be returned to the Admissions Department in advance of the Scholarship assessments which take place in January/February of Year 8. Boys wishing to be considered for any award must have satisfied the School’s academic standards for entry.
Sherborne is able to offer a number of scholarships to pupils for Sixth Form entry. These will be awarded to candidates showing particular academic proficiency and promise. As a guide to candidates considering the Scholarship, we would expect them to have GCSE predictions including six of more A* or A grades.
These assessments will be held in November and will include online cognitive tests, an Academic interview and two subject based interviews based on your son’s chosen A level subjects.
Sports Award (Walford Award)
A number of awards are available for boys demonstrating outstanding ability in their chosen sport or sports.

Music Scholarships and Exhibitions
Music scholarships and exhibitions are available on entry into the Sixth Form offering an exciting oppurtunity to boys to make a wide ranging contribution to the busy musical life of the School as well as developing their own individual musical ability.
Boys who win an award are eligible to apply for means-tested bursaries over and above the value of their award.
