Boarding Houses

Pastoral Care

The pupils in each house are in the care of a Housemaster, his wife and a resident matron. They work together to produce a caring and warm family atmosphere to the pupils. Each pupil has a personal Tutor, who monitors his academic and social progress and provides a useful contact point for staff and parents. All the staff at Sherborne give the highest priority to pastoral care and this was reflected in recent inspectors' reports.

'The School offers a high support of care for its pupils. We continue to be impressed by the ambience'.

Perhaps an Upper Sixth boy summed up the feeling about the School and his boarding house best:

'I have really enjoyed all five years of my time here and I wouldn't change anything. The spirit of the house is unparalleled and I enjoyed every minute of it'.

If a pupil is experiencing difficulty then there are many people who can help resolve the situation including: his Housemaster and wife, his personal tutor, the House matron, the Chaplain, the School doctors or a Counsellor.

Every House has the facilities which one would expect in a modern boarding school: wireless internet connection, common rooms, libraries, cooking facilities, laundry rooms, full central heating and individual study-bedrooms for senior pupils.
