Brass
The brass department is headed by Andrew Fawbert who runs four brass groups, co-runs the Wind Band, and is also the school's trombone teacher. The Scholars' brass ensemble achieves a high standard of playing.
In addition to providing fanfares for all major school services in the Abbey, the scholars brass ensemble also plays in local venues will be featuring heavily in the opening of the new music school in July 2010.
Three other brass ensembles provide the opportunity for brass players of all levels to become involved in music-making at Sherborne. Two of the Friday lunchtime recitals each year are given to the brass department so that all ensembles have an opportunity to perform to a live audience.
