Chamber Music

A large amount of chamber music takes place each week. Currently there are two piano trios, a string quartet, a brass ensemble and a cello quartet. The school enters various groups each year to the National Pro Corda chamber music competition: in 2009 a piano trio and a brass ensemble reached the national semifinals. In January 2011 three groups entered the competition and two (a string quartet playing Hadyn and a piano trio playing Mendelssohn) reached the semi-finals.

Membership of chamber music groups is generally by invitation, though boys are encouraged to discuss chamber music with their instrumental teacher and also to set up their own ensembles.
