Wind Band
Currently there are 84 members of the Wind Band. There is no audition for membership, with the standard of playing varying from beginners up to those who have ABRSM grade 8 distinction. The band is enthusiastic and, being run by head of woodwind, Clare Bentley and head of brass, Andrew Fawbert, develops and nurtures a strong sense of teamsmanship. Rehearsing once a week during Tuesday Q Time (1.30 - 2.30 pm) the band undertakes one concert each term (Bristol's Cabot Circus in December 2009, the Sturminster Newton Exchange in March 2010) and also participates in school concerts - lunchtime recitals etc - from time to time. The Wind Band, amongst many other ensembles, will be playing at the opening of the new music building on 2nd July 2010.
