Sherborne Cricket Team plays Kerala
At the start of the holidays 14 Shirburnians along with Messrs Reynolds, Preston and Willows went on a ten day cricket development tour of Kerala in south west India. The mix of Fifth, Fourth and Third formers, ably captained by Tom Gibbs (m) played 7 games winning 3 and losing 4. The cricket was hugely different to that played in England – we started games at 8.30 in the morning and were confronted by 36 degree heat, 80% humidity, stony, dusty outfields, baked clay wickets and passionate and talented opposition, one of whom has already been signed up by an IPL team – after being dismissed by Anthony Berkeley his contract was in the balance we hear.

RocSoc Concert in the Courts
Concert in the Courts took place on Saturday evening amidst wonderful sunshine and despite some showers during the afternoon. Outstanding performances were given by “ ” and Max Radford’s band formally known as “ ”, while Upper Sixth Head of RocSoc Olly Gardner’s vocal panache and guitar got the audience rocking until the Headline Band “Data Select Party” – with a combination of soul and sing-along - had the audience (over one thousand) enthralled.

Swine Flu Information
“The School is following the advice of the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families in the matter of swine flu, which is to carry on with school life as normal. We already have an established contingency plan to deal with such an outbreak which we will put in place following any recommendations from the Health Protection Agency should the virus spread.”

Composers Concert 24th April 2009
The first Friday Lunchtime Recital of the term was the Composers’ Concert. Images of the scores were projected, using Sibelius Software, on a screen which had been put up for the occasion in Cheap Street Church; the audience, numbering some 80 enjoyed following the scores where possible, or otherwise watching pictures and movie clips which had inspired the compositions.
