Elite Sports Scholarship Programme

This year we have developed and implemented the Elite Sports Scholarship Programme (ESSP) which aims to provide our athletes with a scheme that will support and develop all aspects of their sporting life including lifestyle, nutrition, psychology and strength and conditioning.

Last week our ESSP group received an engaging seminar from Mr Lilley on 'Lifestyle, nutrition and supplements' and had fitness testing on Carey's playing fields with the sports brand, Nike. The specialised testing with Nike is the first of many we will be doing with the company as we aim to highlight areas the boys need to work on in training. This affiliation with Nike allows us to compare the boys agility, power, speed and endurance with not only each other but also with top professionals who have also undergone the same testing.

The testing proved fiercely competitive after it was announced that the winners would receive a free pair of boots courtesy of Nike. Well done to George Buckney (L6m) who was the overall winner for the ESSP group and James Ritchie (U6e) who won the rugby group testing. Finally, Henry Field 3c) should be congratulated on winning the ESSP endurance test whilst only in the third form. One for the future!
