Sherborne Pupil selected for England U16 Rugby squad
Following the final trial camp over half term, Will Homer (5m) has been selected for the England U16 rugby squad. Having starred for Dorset and Wilts in an unbeaten county programme, Will unfortunately broke his thumb at a South West Divisional Day in January, but recovered in time to impress the national selectors and gain a place in the top squad of 22. Although primarily a scrum-half, Will can also play anywhere in the backline and is looking forward to taking on Italy U17s in Parma on April 7th and Wales U16 on April 11th at Wellington College.
Director of Sport, Dave Guy commented on Will's achievement, "It has been a long process for Will, going back to last year when he played for the county U16 squad a year young, and he has continued to work very hard alongside his teammates and the school coaches, including our scrum half specialist James Honeyben. Hopefully Will can emulate the successes of David Buck (L6m) who played fly half for last year's England U16 side in their unbeaten season."
