Team win Household Cavalry Challenge
Harry Lane (L6b) with fellow team members from Sherborne Girls
Pupils from Sherborne School and Sherborne Girls took part in the exciting Household Cavalry Challenge at Minterne House, by very kind permission of The Hon Henry and Mrs Sophie Digby.
The event, on Saturday 21 April, was in aid of Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund (HCOCF). The team of three enthusiastically entered the run, ride and punt competition which consisted of teams pitting against each other around a stunning cross country route of one mile, over a challenging equestrian course and a final leg across the lake in a punt. Throughout the afternoon there was plenty of gladiatorial action for the 600 spectators to watch as well as additional entertainment for children. The finals took place in the evening to coincide with a drinks party where guests could watch events unfold from the gardens of Minterne House with the action accompanied by The Band of The Life Guards and a display from the Flying Foxes. After a lot of determination amongst the team they went on to win the competition!
The event raised over £5000 for The Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund (HCOCF) which provides immediate financial support to injured soldiers, their families and the families of those who have lost their lives on active service.
