Concert in the Courts

Sherborne School's annual open-air rock concert – Concert in the Courts – took place on Saturday 12th May amidst sunshine and warmth not previously experienced within the last few weeks and certainly not for the last few years at this event. This year there was deliberately no professional band headlining the gig, therefore giving the opportunity for school bands to play extended sets.

With just over 710 in the audience - drawn from the school, Sherborne Girls, Leweston and St Mary’s, Shaftesbury - there was a superb atmosphere and the musical standard was the strongest it has been for several years. Felix Stickland and Toby Cairns (the Heads of RocSoc) put together a superb list of six Sherborne School bands, and one Sherborne Girls band, who performed popular numbers such as Pumped up Kicks (Foster the People), Charlie Brown (Coldplay), Love Lost (The Temper Trap), Don’t stop believing (Journey), Where the streets have no name (U2), and Brianstorm (Arctic Monkeys). Felix Stickland’s band, Outer Limits, with vocalist Emma Pickup, performed for the last time after a remarkable seven years of being together since Sherborne Prep School days.

Outstanding DJ sets were provided by Vladislav Dzhagaev and Hendrik Hebel to end the evening, and there were suitably large surges in the audience with each exciting DJ drop.
