Guy Claxton to speak at Conference
Sherborne School welcomes educational author Professor Guy Claxton next week to lead the 'Learning Conference' when he will introduce to delegates his ideas on Building Learning Power (Helping Young People Become Better Learners). Professor Claxton will be joined by Graham Powell, Principal Consultant of educational publishers The Learning Organisation (TLO).

Commendation for Sherborne poetry translator
Sherborne School Upper Sixth pupil Jack Newman (b) has been commended in The Times Stephen Spender poetry in translation competition for his translation of Voltaire’s A Madame la princesse Ulrique de Prusse in the 18 and under category.

Hope & Homes for Children: public presentation
On Wednesday 14th November, Mark Cook OBE, founder of charity Hope & Homes for Children, will be giving an inspirational talk in the Powell Theatre. The presentation will cover the recent expedition by nine Sherborne boys who were sponsored to climb and cycle between the UK's nine highest peaks.

L6 Geography trip to Manchester
Sherborne School's fourth annual Lower Sixth Geography trip to Manchester took place between the 24th and 26th October. Twenty-five intrepid students and four staff headed north for a mixture of physical and human exploration.
