Art Department
Sherborne encourages individual and independent creativity by providing wonderful studio and workshop spaces in a building designed for Art by Sir Reginald Blomfield, the leading architect of his day. The art staff offer support with a fervent love of Art and a wide range of skills founded in their own art making.
At Sherborne there really are endless possibilities, you can work just as easily with a camera or with a computer as you can with a pencil or a welding rod. The Art School provides a good atmosphere where emerging student artists and visiting professionals can exchange ideas and techniques and learn from one another. The School's own Oliver Holt Gallery is at the heart of the department. Here you can see new art projects from outside the School; these are a model for imaginative work at Sherborne. We want there to be something for everyone here - from those who might like to dabble with paint or clay to those who wish for a sophisticated engagement with international contemporary art and the history of art. Sherborne works closely with regional arts organisations and local schools and colleges to promote visual arts and to support artists.
