Hockey
Hockey is played in both the Michaelmas and Lent terms although the majority of the fixtures are in the Lent term.
Hockey is played four times a week with matches predominantly on Saturdays. All matches and practise are played on the schools two recently laid and refurbished Astroturf pitches. These excellent facilities allow practise three afternoons a week.
There are twelve teams at Sherborne catering for all age groups and levels of ability. The School plays matches every Saturday and some Thursdays against some of the best schools in the South West.
Hockey is co-ordinated by former Great Britain Olympic and Current England Master’s hockey player Rob Hill.
The coaching is of the highest quality with all staff being well trained, enthusiastic and competent hockey players themselves.
Sherborne competes in the West of England Championships at Under 14, 16 and 18 age groups. Sherborne always has a number of boys who regularly represent Dorset at various age groups and some who go on to represent the West of England. There is the opportunity to play club hockey for Sherborne Town in the Michaelmas term due to our strong links with the club.
The 1st X1 Squad regularly tour to Barcelona and Amsterdam as part of the their preseason preparations and compete in the National hockey Festival held in Bath.
