Rugby

Rugby is the major sport of the Michaelmas term with 20 teams playing a very competitive fixture list throughout the south of England. All boys with an interest in rugby are provided with the opportunity to represent the School.

On a regular basis boys go on to represent the County or Division and beyond, and the school currently has several international players as well as Dorset & Wilts, South West and England U16 Coaches on the staff. In addition, the school enjoys close links with Bath Rugby, with a number of boys attending the EPDG, and we are fortunate to have the coaching expertise of their academy coaches available on a weekly basis. Varied and progressive training programmes, including strength and conditioning, are provided and recommended for boys throughout the year.

Pre-season training takes place in the last week of the summer holidays with camps at various venues including Bath University, and there are regular tours to a variety of destinations with the senior squads having toured Australia in 2011.

The Under 15 age group enters the Daily Mail competition (having recently made the final at Twickenham) and the school is delighted to be a part of the Veterrimi IV, the four oldest rugby playing schools in the world, who meet biannually for a festival in October.

Rugby Sevens is played by all age groups during the Lent term and each age group is entered for numerous competitions, the highlight being the National 7's Tournament at Rosslyn Park in March.
