With seven pitches and the fabulous new Sports Hall to enjoy, our boys have ample space to finesse their cricketing skills throughout the year.  However, the sport really comes alive in the summer months when everyone has a chance to try their hand at it.

For some, this leads to involvement in the School’s top teams throughout their time here.  For others, it equips them with a lifelong enjoyment and understanding of the game.  It also gives them the discipline of working at their technique – something that stands them in good stead for every sporting endeavour.  A total of fourteen XIs will, between them, contest over 100 matches in a typical season against opponents as diverse as MCC, Free Foresters, Marlborough, Canford, Taunton and Sherborne Girls – to name but a few.  Meanwhile, the new Inter-House indoor tournament has proved to be an immediate hit.

Coaching is led by Ryan Buckley (Ryan coaches within the Somerset EPP program and Dorset Cricket Board). There are strong links with Dorset, with several boys playing and training in their Academy programmes.  Junior sides regularly feature in (and win) County Cup Finals whilst, in recent years, Sherborne has developed the Dorset Independent Schools 100-ball competition; this now runs at both 1st and 2nd XI levels.
