Matrons’ Conference 2025: Pastoral Care in a Digital Age
We are delighted to invite Prep and Senior School Matrons to attend this year’s Matrons’ CPD Conference, which will be held at Sherborne School on Friday 7 March 2025.
This one-day event will be a great opportunity to meet with colleagues from a wide range of schools, offering the opportunity to discuss and share best practice to support the pupils in our care.
In today's digital world, students are increasingly exposed to online threats, including cyberbullying, harmful gaming content, data privacy, and sophisticated digital manipulations such as deepfakes. The conference aims to equip pastoral staff with the knowledge and strategies necessary to safeguard students from these dangers and promote responsible digital behaviour.
Sessions will be led by members of Sherborne's Wellbeing Team, and key topics to be covered will include:
- Digital Wellbeing - How do teenagers use their devices? What impact is this having on their bodies and brains? How can we spot the warning signs and support them?
Online harms - What are the possible harms of the internet including sextortion and the rise of AI. What is grooming, how has it changed? Where can people go for help and support.
Body image and self esteem - How is the internet affecting young peoples perception of themselves. What are the possible signs? How can we help support young people?
