Sixth Form

On Monday 9 January all Lower Sixth pupils from Sherborne School and Sherborne Girls took part in a Lower Sixth Leadership Conference.

The day began with a welcome from Headmaster of Sherborne School, Dr Dominic Luckett and Head of Sherborne Girls Dr Ruth Sullivan, followed by a Keynote talk provided by Tim McEwan | SH Leadership (sheffieldhaworthleadership.com).

The pupils then split into eight groups, each completing sessions on a carousel throughout the day, focusing on different ideas and aspects of leadership. Each session was tailored to one of the four principles below, and for each of the four were explicitly referred to in both the Keynote and the Plenary.

We believe that leaders at Sherborne School and Sherborne Girls:

1. Serve others – we exhibit kindness, compassion, humility and moral courage.

2. Pursue lifelong learning – we embrace global diversity and the opportunity to learn from other cultures.

3. Build successful teams - we motivate, inspire and move people towards achieving positive change.

4. Communicate with skill – we present with clarity, passion and authenticity.

At the end of the day, each pupil delivered a 60 second talk to the rest of their cohort on a leader who had inspired or motivated them. A fantastic day was enjoyed by all!
