Life at Lyon House
Lyon was constructed as a purpose-built boarding house in 1911, with space very much in the architect’s mind. It is the second-largest house at Sherborne.
The House’s Edwardian features of high ceilings and generously proportioned rooms make it a very good environment in which to work, play and rest.
Although only a five-minute walk from the main school site, this distance gives the House a more relaxed atmosphere and in many ways a stronger sense of community. Lyon’s glorious garden and proximity to the sports pitches, as well as the features of the dining room and the ‘Sweat House’ (a former gymnasium), help make it vibrant, welcoming and homely.
