Life in The Green
A short walk up the hill from the main School, The Green is located just three minutes from most lessons and the dining hall.
With its very large garden (football pitch included) and floodlit ‘cage’, the outdoor space is perfect for teenage boys to let off steam; and when they come inside the boys can enjoy the recently refurbished facilities (including two sofa-filled TV rooms, two games rooms, and a common room) in a relaxed and calm atmosphere.
The buildings and space are superb but, it is the people inside that really make The Green come to life. There is no such thing as a typical Green boy, but the hope is that they are all mutually respectful and supportive, purposeful and energetic, and as a result successful in a wide range of fields.
With four Heads of School, three Oxbridge entrants, a Bow Award winner, two music diplomas, and six Captains of major sport First teams – all in the past four years – success is certainly a feature of life in The Green.
The boys have plenty of help in pursuing success, from the matrons, tutors, ‘uncles’ and mentors, year-group prefects and Housemaster. And if none of these people can help, perhaps the two house dogs can!
In the past three years the House raised more than £18,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by swimming 16,500 lengths non-stop in just under 36 hours, cycling 10,000km in the same time, and plans are already underway for more charitable events in the future.

The Green House play, Bull, was performed last week. The play was a very funny, thoroughly modern piece of drama and was both very well-performed and very well-directed.
