Clay-pigeon shooting was reintroduced at Sherborne in 2012 and is now a regular Tuesday afternoon sport.

We shoot at Southern Counties Shooting Ground (the home ground of 2012 Olympic Champion, Peter Wilson), where boys are coached by a seven-time world champion, on both competition and sporting layouts, during the Michaelmas and Trinity terms.

We have a number of fixtures organised against other schools and at the end of the Trinity term we hold a parents’ and sons’ competition.

Sherborne has an indoor 25m target range which we use for small bore and air rifle target shooting. We have excellent coaching available once a week with a coach for the UK Junior Team. Under their tuition we currently have students who shoot for England Schools Team and others who are challenging for a place on the same team. We compete with other schools and local rifle clubs as well as at national competitions such as the Bisley Schools Open.
