Rifles National Cadet Cup

Our boys have just returned from the Rifles National Cadet Cup. The boys excelled across a range of physically and mentally demanding scenarios: extracting casualties from a minefield, evacuating the injured crew of a downed helicopter, winning hearts and minds on an urban patrol, clearing enemy-occupied buildings, and defending a forward operating base from a night attack were just some of the (simulated - but with real explosions!) challenges they faced.
A serious downpour one morning was matched by a serious outbreak of camaraderie as the Sherborne cadets cheered on their competitors, including Army Cadet Forces from across the country and Stowe and Canford CCFs, in the 'weighted stretcher' run - though this did not stop our boys from nearly lapping the opposition!
Overall, Sherborne CCF placed 2nd, losing out narrowly to Canford CCF. They were presented with their medals by Major-General Thomas Copinger-Symes CBE, and deserve huge congratulations: readying themselves for this competition in the first few weeks of term was an endeavour they did not undertake lightly, and they have repaid the efforts of their staff with interest.
Well done to the following boys who took part:
Oscar Buxton (U6a)
Henry Haywood Smith (L6d)
Will Loughlin (L6d)
Archie MacWatt (L6b)
Henry Parsons (L6d)
Giles Blythman-Rowe (5c)
Angus Bushby (5m)
Oscar Maclay (5c)
George Perkins (5a)
