Director of Rugby Coaching

Sherborne Rugby has a long tradition of rugby stretching back into the 19th Century and recent successes have seen a number of leavers join the professional ranks as well as the senior squad progressing through to the latter rounds of the National Cup. The flagship sport in the Michaelmas Term sees up to 18 teams regularly taking the field from the Mini Colts Touch team to the 1st XV on The Upper - Rugby | Sherborne School

Utilising a team of experienced, well qualified coaches, the Director of Rugby Coaching will work with the Director or Rugby to provide a challenging but enjoyable experience for all boys in the programme. The post holder will also play a pivotal role in the progression of boys in regional academies which includes Bath Rugby with whom we have close links. There is a fiercely competitive inter house competition as well as a full Sevens programme in the Lent Term. The opening of a new Sports Centre, which includes a fitness suite and performance gym, will have significant benefits to the rugby programme as our boys develop their athleticism before they take on the likes of Marlborough, Millfield and Radley - Our Story | Sherborne Sports Centre

Hours of Work: The Director of Rugby Coaching will usually work 37.5 to 40 hours per week during term time. The academic School day begins at 8.30am and ends at 5pm, Monday to Friday; teaching also takes place on Saturdays from 8.30am to 12.30pm. However, due to the nature of co-curricular provision, the Director of Rugby Coaching will be required to work flexibly outside the normal School routine and for periods during the School holidays, as reasonably directed by the Director of Sport and Deputy Director of Sport (Performance).

Salary: £27,500.00 to £29,000.00 per annum depending on skills and experience. Salary will be paid monthly in arrears direct into your nominated bank account and will usually be reviewed annually in September.

Support Staff Tutoring: There may be the opportunity, for the right candidate, to tutor a small group of pupils as a Support Staff Tutor. This is a remunerated role and can be discussed further at interview.
