For the second year in a row, Sherborne Boys has been chosen as one of The Cricketer magazine’s prestigious ‘Top 100 Schools’ – a wonderful accolade for cricket at the School.
This award comes as richly deserved recognition after the 2025 season, which saw the School win well over half of its 110 matches across all age groups. Amongst these, the 1st XI won ten games, including a superb five-wicket victory over MCC on the final day, whilst the Junior Colts won the DISC100 Tournament, and both they and the Mini Colts made it to County Finals Day. Individually, eleven boys were selected to represent five different counties whilst Sherborne Boys continues its partnership with Cricket Dorset as a Performance Centre for the county. Most impressively of all, the School’s third annual Ruth Strauss Foundation Cricket Week raised £6,081 to support the sterling efforts of this marvellous charity. This total has also seen Sherborne chosen by the Foundation as the school that was most creative in terms of going red and raising funds in 2025, for which we have won a day’s training for the 1st XI squad at the Utilita Bowl – the home of Hampshire CCC and Southern Brave!
Master-in-charge of Cricket, Hugh Tatham, comments, “We are delighted to have been chosen again amongst The Cricketer’s ‘Top 100’ Schools, and are thrilled that the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in cricket at Sherborne have once again been publicly honoured by our inclusion. We will be going for the hat-trick in 2026…”
